I'm Back!

I'm back and badder than ever! Not bad in the sense that my debut record is currently ranked like 73,000 on Amazon.com but in a good way. I suppose 73,000 in the midst of all the cd's out in the world isn't that bad or is it?
Ok, for those of you who don't know here we go. Less than a month ago I had to leave a beautiful tour with the Robbie Seay Band due to our new baby girl Mercie arriving 2 months early. So basically we lived in a hotel 1.5 hours away from our home for 3 weeks while visiting our baby around the clock. She wasn't exactly allowed to leave the NICU neonatal nurseryL I can easily say that this experience was one of the more difficult ones in our lives. Constant beeps and buzzing and the occasional nurse running for babies who had a sudden drop in heart rate proved to be very hard to deal with.
The end result is that we are now home and Mercie is doing so well. She is more beautiful than you could imagine mainly because she looks just like my wifeJ We are thankful. We as a family believe God is real and sovereign and He proved once again that we do not deserve his mercy and love.
God knows that I wanted to be on this tour and get to meet so many of you but I just couldn't picture it at the expense of being away from my family. We appreciate your continued prayers and I hope to be out singing for you in the very near future.

It’s 12:23 A.M and I just got back from a 7 mile run with 2 friends (1 of which I just met this evening.) Lately I have found myself drifting off while at work or play thinking about when I can get a run and some decent solitude in. It seems that getting off the couch and pounding out a few miles is exactly what my soul has been craving.

This series of Blogs in general are to document my life as a new artist and the trials and pleasures that ensue. But early this A.M I can’t help but document a deeper yearning. I want to LIVE. I want to get out when I should be sleeping and sweat alongside a few comrades. I want to get over the feeling of failing or succeeding in the music world and get whipped into submission. I feel the closest to Christ while going out for a run. It’s seems that running in the early hours of morning or later at night is the only real option when you have a family and conflicting hobbies☺

I think after having my first record out for a few months and getting ready to go back out on tour I find myself desperately seeking clarity. How do you remain a faithful husband and father while building a ministry and broadening a fan base? I don’t know. I do know that with every pounding heartbeat, deep breath and lack of words I am finding peace in the struggle. Mixing the joys and frustrations of music with the welcomed pain of building endurance and stamina is a delightful cocktail.

It’s 1:05 A.M and I am thankful. My legs and feet hurt. I’m hungry. But more importantly I’m writing and I am sharing instead of sleeping. I love to sleep and unfortunately I sleep too much. Not tonight.
After meeting my new friend Sean tonight I felt like I knew him better after our run. It was only 6 months earlier I drove past a crazy looking man running bare foot with no shirt who looked just like Jesus or at least the Jesus in my mind. Tonight, God blessed me with a new friend and it came by getting out my comfort. Sean is the guy you throw drinks at while driving by and call crazy because he has long hair, beard and runs bare foot. After tonight I want to take my shoes off and get nailed in the back of the head with your Wendy’s Frosty. I’m all in. I’m reminded of paragraph of one of my favorite books:

It's 5:00 in the morning somewhere around Muscatine, Iowa. Can't sleep again. Believe it or not 12 people in bunks scattered all around me have very little to do with it. God has been communicating lately in a neat way. For sleep purposes i would say it has been totally inconvenient but in times like these who really cares about sleep. So many thoughts, questions, insecurities, accomplishments, friendships, fears keep echoing through my mind. Just 1 week away from my debut record releasing and i could never be happier, but....

What about all the ways i am failing. It's funny how the competition can scare us so much. Here i sit in the middle of the CCM industry feeling the need and pressure to compete just to stay ahead. It's funny because my record wasn't written in that spirit so why pick it up now? I'm reminded of my good friend's myspace headline, Grace is not opposed to effort but is opposed to earning." What's the purpose of what i am doing as i start my ministry/career in music? I couldn't sleep tonight and i am reminded so loud and clear of Madeleine.

Sorry it's been a while...Had a little break from tour but i am back on and rocking. Just left a show in Ottawa Lake, Michigan and heading to South Bend, Indiana where i am going to find me hero, RUDY. For those of you who don't know, Rudy is a Notre Dame legend and i am so stoked to go find him.

Thanks again for all who have come to the shows so far. You are such an encouragement and i am so thankful for you. Nothing compares to being able to hear what your life is like with you standing right in front of me. There are most certainly some benefits to being on the road without a band. I get you all to myself! I will be uploading lots of new pics and videos for you so please keep in touch!

To all the folks in Minneapolis Mn, Manitowoc Wi, Alexandria Mn and Waukesha Wi, you officially ROCK!!!! So honored to have been able to play for you and learn what amazing people you are. I never thought signing my name on arms, shoes, guitars, hats, and faces could be so much fun. I'm kinda addicted, sorry. I hate to make all this a contest but i have to give props to Waukesha, Wi and there amazing singing. SO cool when you can step away from the mic and have a whole audience singing and worshipping. Those moments for me have to be the most special because for a few moments we are all in one accord with our attention focused on one so much greater than ourselves. It's a nice relief to have the focus switch from the lights, stage, guitar and just rely on the beauty of God.

Well, i am off the take a quick cat nap and then be back to write.
